Melvin K. Silverman, Esq. is the head
Patent Attorney of the Firm, which includes Dr.
Yi Li, and J. C. Tadros. He brings over thirty
(30) years of experience to clients of the Firm
in the areas of intellectual property, including
patent, trademark and copyright enforcement,
domestic and foreign patent prosecution, and all
aspects of copyright, trademark and patent
solicitation. Presently, Mr. Silverman's areas
of specific technical expertise include trade
secret practice, software and Internet law,
protection of business methods, as well as
patent areas related to bio-physics, medical
imaging, information theory, solid-state physics
and alternative energy sources.
Mr. Silverman is
a registered patent attorney with the U.S.
Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of
the New Jersey State Bar and is registered to
practice before the U.S. District Court for New
Jersey, the U.S. Federal Circuit, the U.S. Tax
Court, and the International Trade
Commission.
Prior to
becoming an attorney, Mr. Silverman earned a
B.S. degree in electrical engineering from
Columbia University. He then worked with NASA on
the Saturn/Apollo Project in developing inertial
guidance components for the lunar missions of
the 1970's. After his successful experience at
NASA, Mr. Silverman obtained a law degree from
Seton Hall Law School.
As a patent
attorney, Mr. Silverman became a partner in an
international patent practice firm in New York
City. He was an original member of the legal
team of Johnnie Cochran and Willie E. Gary in
the 2000 landmark case of All Pro Sports Camps,
Inc. v. Walt Disney Company. Moreover, he has
been lead counsel in other major intellectual
property litigations, including Corwin v. Walt
Disney World (a contest over the creative origin
of EPCOT) and matters against NIKE and
Mercedes-Benz USA.

In addition, Mr.
Silverman is currently involved in several trade
associations. He is vice-president of
LifeScience
Concepts,
LLC.
("LSC"), an entity concerned with the collection
of data and the validation of theories of
alternative medicine, certain off-label uses of
FDA approved drugs and prospective "orphan"
drugs. In this capacity, and as a practicing
patent attorney, Mr. Silverman has worked with
various medical schools.
Mr. Silverman is
also a member of the American Intellectual
Property Association, International Trademark
Association, New Jersey Patent Law Association,
and Association of the Bar of the Federal
Circuit. He is a liaison to prototype makers and
researchers used to assist inventors in the
reduction-to-practice and testing of their
inventions. He has also taught "Patent Law for
Engineers" at Stevens Institute in Hoboken, New
Jersey. Finally, he is actively involved in
Columbia University's alumni affairs.
Mr. Silverman
holds U.S. Patent No. 5,221,892 directed to a

Mr. Silverman
was a supporter of Florida Governor Charles
Crist during his campaign and was invited to his
inauguration on January 2, 2007.
